LVCC Members Actively Contribute to the Local Community When They're Not Riding Their Bikes.

PennDOT Adopt-a-Highway

Since 2023, the LVCC has participated in PennDOT's "Adopt-a-Highway" program. As part of our agreement, twice a year we are responsible for picking up the litter on a two mile section of Cetronia Rd, from Trexlertown Rd. eastward past Lone Lane.  We provide the labor, PennDOT provides the supplies and disposes of the litter. In recognition of this, there is a sign at each end of the roadway acknowledging our contribution.

Thank you to the sixteen LVCC members who helped with the most recent cleanup, and to all who have contributed since its inception.

Thank you letter from Penndot, November 2025

Community Bike Works

LVCC members have been participants of CBW’s main fundraiser ("Spin-a-Thons") dating back to their origin, circa 2016. Teams of 6-8 riders ride over 10 days and generate donations that fund CBW’s Earn-A-Bike programs during the year. The club has also donated directly to CBW on occasion.

LVCC members have volunteered their time working with CBW's Earn-A-Bike program (kids learn to restore and maintain a bike, which they keep at the end of the program. Participants also receive a new helmet and begin their journey enjoying the outdoors on two wheels). CBW kids have been participants at our Monday night rides that leave from the Velodrome.

In the summer of 2024, LVCC assisted CBW in hosting the national conference of Community Bike Works organizations from around the country. Muhlenberg College housed the >100 kids. LVCC members donated their time being dorm, meal and ride chaperones.

Holiday Gift Cards

Each year since about 2012, members of LVCC make holiday gift donations to people in our area who are less fortunate. In recent years donations have been in the form of pre-paid gift cards so that individuals can enjoy shopping for their own family members.  Gift card retailers typically include Amazon, Walmart, Target, as well as other department and grocery stores such as Weis and Giant.

Generally, total annual donations exceeding $2000 have been equally divided between two recipient organizations, Sixth Street Shelter and Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.  The gift cards are given to clients of these organizations, not to the organizations themselves.
